We've all been to divesites that feature tacky "artistic" attractions like giant mermaids (sorry, Grand Cayman) or a giant underwaters Jesus (sorry, Key Largo) or fibreglass sharks (sorry, Mrs. Morrison). Joseph Taylor, a British artist, is trying something a little more ambitious. His underwater "sculpture park", a series of installations around Grenada, plays with light, subject matter, material, setting, theme, and viewer perspective in some very interesting ways.

The "gallery" is located within an area designated as a National Marine Park, in a bay enclosed by rock headlands with depths from 0- 25m. Now I'm curious.

OK, a lot of those would be really creepy in a low-vis situation. Luckily Grenada isn't known for low-viz.

Imagine being dropped on that site for a night dive, without a briefing... (cue Twilight Zone Theme...)

Yeah, they're wonderful. I was being flippant in my first post, but my point was that most underwater sculpture is simply sculpture, placed underwater. This installation uses, and depends on, that amazing underswater space and light, and incorporates it into both the concept of each piece and the actual image; these are pieces that have to work when seen from 30 ft above, and from any angle, in uncontrolled lighting and visibility. Love to see this someday.
