I'm looking for buddies to go on charters to local wrecks like the Daryaw, Lillie, Keystorm, ECH, etc. to do penetration dives.

I'm certified up to Apprentice Cave Diver, and am currently taking advanced nitrox and deco. I have some experience with easy wreck penetration and would like to start using my cave penetration skills to explore more of the local wrecks.

My dive experience, 260 dives in 1.5 years. A lot of that was local shore diving to work on skills, and I've done about 25 cave dives. I of course dive with tech gear (doubles, comfortable with carrying stages, etc.) in hogarthian/DIR configuration.

I'd like to go diving with people who are qualified and/or experience in wreck penetration so I can extend my skills. So if you have a charter and have some extra space please consider inviting me along. I'm quite safety-conscious and take buddy obligations and dive planning very seriously.

Ok, I will be the first to say, caves and wrecks are 2 different creatures. Other than that, sorry, I can't be a buddy for that at the moment. I will be doing my Tech Wreck Pen in the fall, perhaps after that, I will join you.

Would you recommend taking a wreck pen course up here? I thought about it but I've been getting different answers on whether you need a separate course for wreck vs. cave. I suppose it would be a smart thing to do, and fun at that. Is Burton's teaching that course before the fall?

No, I am taking the course, so I can start logging dives, so I can later take an Instructor course. There seems to be a need in the area for a good course. Poke around on TDS and see what kind of answers you get there. The course I will be taking btw is gonna be around $600 US I think, have to check and save up some bucks LOL.

Where are you taking the wreck pen course?

Some people say cave and wreck are completely different, others say if you are cave trained, just learn wreck by diving with a mentor since it is similar. I agree, a course would be good to do.

Looks like 2nd week of August. Not sure yet if Brockville or Clayton NY. I will confirm with instructor that the cost is $500 US. Also, not sure if he still has room.

Ok, who's the instructor?

Wrecks seem very different from caves, with all the metal posts and bars and stuff

I will find out if he has room still. The instructor is Christopher Laughrey, teaches NAUI Tec.

if you want to take a local wreck penetration course. Give Stephane Jolicoeur a call. (514) 862-0274 or email stephane@tekdiv.com

He just established a Bed and breakfast in Ivy Lea. Very nice place.

You can dive, train, eat, sleep all in one location.

Something to consider..
