Dive & Picnic Sunday July 5th

So who's thinking of joining this coming weekend's planned diving and eating session (Sun July 5 (http://thescubaforum.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=20&day=2009-7-5&c=2))? Is this going to be a 1-dive or 2-dive day? Directions? Pot luck, anyone? (How are we going to tell the difference between this, and the 'normal' post-dive pile of food, by the BBQ?)

Are we talking a 1 or 2 tank dive? I may (or may not) be able to make it - depends on family plans.

So far weather looks ok for Sunday. A 2 tank day is possible for most, it is just a matter of logistics and moving all the gear and people back to the entry point as this is a drift dive. Looks like we will meet on site at 9am. This is a shallow dive as well, so if people wanted to just do 1 dive, it could still be a failry long dive.

Well it is a shallow dive, easily done on a single, as long as you let the current carry you instead of fighting it.

Sounds good. I am not sure if we will be able to stay long after the dive as our driver has to be back in Ottawa at a specific time. We will play it by ear.

around 9:30 at morrisburg, we'll be there, one of my buddy is coming with me :-)

Nice dive, for my first time doing that particular site, even if the vis wasn't the best and the current was a little stiff. (I timed it as pushing 3 kt at times. Not really a two hander, but maybe not for the inexperienced.) In the murk, we did manage to get separated into multiple pairs, so probably a good idea there were lots of safety sausages in the group. :) All the boat traffic nearby was a bit nerve-racking. The early start worked out well avoiding most of that. Interesting structures, and there were even a few fairly hefty carp (>2'). Unfortunately, didn't get any pictures of those.

Next time we plan a picnic dive though, lets co-ordinate a bit more in advance about food. Maybe even a pot luck. (Thanks for the hotdog, Fred. Should have brought more cold cuts. :)

glad we all had a good time, just too bad we got separated like that, it unfortunately happens with biggish groups and low visibility

We might have stayed closer together if I had actually remembered to connect our light batteries LOL. July 26th is the Lock 21 version of the "picnic". Much easier to co-ordinate things there. Looking forward to it.

I can always bring the BBQ again, hot-dogs, burgers, or my favorite steaks :biggrin:
or let everyone bring what they want to eat and let them grill it up, I know it's more trouble for people, but they get to eat what they want and cooked like they want it :p
