I was just snooping the Owlmanac VIP reminder, and came across the stern part about the stickers. I have not yet had to VIP any of our tanks, and I just wanted to ask that is it common to have some special requirements for what needs to be on the stickers? I would have never thought of that this will be another dang problem I will have!!

I knew for sure already that I do not want to VIP my tanks in one local shop because I've seen that they just seem to duct tape the viz dates on tanks. (Well, in all honesty it might just be for the tanks they only expect to be filled in that shop). I also know one shop uses TDI stickers, and tonight I looked when filling our tanks in the shop.... Someone had one of those on the tank. Yeaaaah - it sure does not have nuttin on it to indicate other 'source' than TDI.

So anyhow, might there be anything else to look for when choosing the VIPper? I assume, the places that use the PSI-sticker are OK? There is no shop name, just a number that is manually added. I think it's the instructor ID number, no?

Any other hints, is any method that the shop uses better than some other? Or is that no factor, one just has choose based on the "farm animal factor" and hope for the best?

Thanksyoumayou

For starters, here is an article written by PSI about what should be on a VIP sticker from a shop/inspector point of view.

From our point of view, we just want to be able to track the tank back to whomever inspected it. The generic PSI stickers are fine as long as the inspector put their number on it. The other generics are also fine, as long as something has been added (permanent marker, printed label etc.) so we can track it.
